Pariet is used to treat a range of gastrointestinal conditions caused by excess stomach acid, including:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Heartburn
- Stomach and intestinal ulcers caused by infection
- Esophageal ulcers
- Acid-related syndromes such as Zollinger-Ellison
It works by reducing acid production in the stomach, helping relieve symptoms and promote healing.

Before You Use Pariet
Speak with your doctor if:
- You have allergies to Pariet or any of its ingredients
- You have liver disease
- You are taking medications such as atazanavir, methotrexate, nelfinavir, rilpivirine, or warfarin
- You plan to give this medication to a child under 12 years old (not recommended)
Always inform your healthcare provider about all medications, supplements, and health conditions to avoid interactions.

While Taking Pariet
- Let all your healthcare providers know you're using Pariet
- Contact your doctor if you experience chest pain, severe stomach pain, difficulty swallowing, or signs of bleeding ulcers
- Do not use Pariet longer than advised
- Pariet may affect lab test results—inform lab staff before testing
- Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures, especially in older adults or those with osteoporosis risk factors
- Extended use may lead to low magnesium or vitamin B12 levels
- Use beyond one year may increase the risk of stomach polyps
