Aceclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Aceclofenac is used for the treatment of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. This drug works by blocking the effect of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes that make chemical prostaglandins at sites of injury or injury causing pain, swelling, and inflammation. Side effects of this drug include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, dyspepsia, somnolence, confusion, 

Aceclofenac Uses:

• Aceclofenac is used to relieve pain. It relieves pain and inflammation in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis..
• Rheumatoid arthritis- Aceclofenac is used to treat symptoms such as swelling, pain, and stiffness of the joints associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
• Osteo-arthritis- Aceclofenac is used to treat symptoms such as tender and painful joints associated with osteoarthritis.
• Ankylosing Spondylitis - Aceclofenac is used to treat symptoms such as stiffness and pain associated with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

How does it work

• This medicine belongs to a class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that help to relieve pain. Prostaglandin is responsible for pain, inflammation, swelling, and fever. It inhibits the action of cyclooxygenase in the brain that is involved in the production of prostaglandins.

Dosage and administration:

• Adults - The recommended dose is 200 mg daily, taken as two separate 100 mg doses, one tablet in the morning and one in the evening.
• Paediatric population - There are no clinical data on the use of Aceclofenac in children and therefore it is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.

Side Effects: Some of the common side effects of aceclofenac are: Abdominal pain, Constipation, Diarrhea, Nausea, Vomiting, Skin rash, Dizziness, Visual Disturbance, Flatulence, Flushing, Stomach Pain, Loss of appetite, Heartburn
