Paracetamol 450 mg/Orphenadrine citrate 35 mg Tablets
What is Paracetamol/Orphenadrine used for :
- This product consists of two active ingredients; paracetamol and orphenadrine. Paracetamol is a medication that belongs to a class of medications known as analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). Orphenadrine citrate is a skeletal muscle relaxant that acts by altering the way your body muscles sense pain and thus help in decreasing muscle pain. This product is used for the relief of the following indications:
- Headache (including tension headache and headaches related to spasm of your skeletal muscles in the area of the neck and head)
- Fever
- Sprains
- Strains
- Pain due to trauma to your trunk, neck or limbs
- Back pain due to prolapsed intervertebral disc
Do not take Paracetamol/Orphenadrine :
- If you are allergic to Paracetamol, or Orphenadrine, or any of the ingredients in this medicine. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
- If you are taking other Paracetamol containing products. Make sure not to exceed paracetamol dose.
- If you have Glaucoma (elevated pressure in your eye), an obstruction in your bowel or bladder, an enlarged prostate, spasm in your esophagus or myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease that causes muscle weakness).
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Do not give this medication to children under 12 years of age.
Possible side effects :
Possible side effects include signs of an allergic reaction, like rash and itching, signs of breathing and respiratory problems like difficulty breathing (more likely to happen if you have previously experienced them after taking similar painkiller medications like aspirin and ibuprofen), sudden weight loss, upset stomach, nausea, yellowing of the skin and eyes, loss of appetite and unexplained bleeding or bruising. Common side effects include drowsiness and sedation, dizziness, nausea, weakness and feeling tired, headache, blurred vision, dry mouth, increased ocular tension, dilation of the pupils, urinary retention or hesitancy, fast heart rate and palpitations and constipation.
Other medicines and Paracetamol/Orphenadrine :
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications.
- If you are taking metoclopramide or domperidone (used for vomiting or nausea).
- If you are taking cholestyramine (used to lower blood cholesterol).
- If you are taking blood thinning medications (e.g. warfarin) and you need to take a painkiller every day. Concomitant chronic use of painkillers and blood thinning medications may increase the risk of bleeding.
- If you are taking other Paracetamol or orphenadrine containing medications.
- If you are taking medications like orphenadrine that may cause side effects, like, drowsiness, constipation and dry mouth (e.g. phenothiazines, propantheline, narcotic analgesics, some antidepressants)
- If you are taking alcohol.
- If you are taking chloramphenicol (antibiotic).
- If you are taking anticonvulsants.
How to take Paracetamol/Orphenadrine :
Adults :
- Take 1 to 2 tablets orally three times per day. Make sure not to exceed the dose.
- Make sure not to take this medication if you have already taken another product that contains orphenadrine or paracetamol.
- Make sure not to exceed the daily recommended dose.
- Take tablet with or without food.
- Take tablet with a full glass of water.
- Do not give this medication for children under 12 years of age.
How to store Paracetamol/Orphenadrine :
- Keep out of the reach of children and pets
- Store medication below 25°C in a dry place
- Do not use beyond the expiry date mentioned on the box
- Keep medication in its original pack to protect it from moisture and light
- Do not use damaged pills
- Do not dispose medication in the wastewater or household waste.
